Prepare for your product launch by creating a catchy and unique slogan that will be used to identify it. A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used as a repetitive expression of an idea or rather a company purpose. It should be a few short memorable words, that draw the attention to one distinctive feature or aspect of your product.

But it is almost not possible to find a great company slogan instantly. Most slogans start for a specific campaign, and are over time converted into corporate slogans for extended periods. Even if you find one, you do not know right away this is going to be a hit.

Take for example one of the most well know slogans, the slogan of Nike, ‘Just do it!’ It’s short, simple, easily understood and remembered, to the point, a little bold and confident.

The slogan came from a rather unlikely source, it were the last words of serial killer Gary Gilmore who received the death penalty in 1976. The words ‘Let’s do it,’ were the inspiration of Dan Wieden of Wieden+Kennedy who came up with ‘Just do it’ a decade later.

In the documentary by the filmmaker Doug Pray called ‘Art & Copy,’ Dan Wieden says: ‘None of us really paid that much attention. We thought, yeah, that’d work’.

‘Just Do It’ is a slogan that has achieved what companies hope for, a quick line that becomes so well-known it works its way into pop culture.
